Welcome Back to The Realignment
Tomorrow’s the one year-anniversary of The Realignment’s Supercast launch.
The anniversary calls for two rounds of thanks to the audience:
We couldn’t do this without your support. As I said last week, The Realignment is supported by Lincoln Network and the Hewlett Foundation’s Economy and Society program. Since January however, the bills, plus the work of our excellent editor Phil Hegseth, have been paid thanks to the Supercast. We’re in the process of working to renew our grants. Should that happen, I’m excited to invest your support in improving the show.
Lots of folks had to cut back on their subscriptions half way through the year because of the weak economy, and I especially appreciate their support given the circumstances.
An additional thank you for your patience with the initially slow publishing schedule, admittedly confusing set-ups like the fact that we put out content via Substack and Supercast, and problems like slow responses to emails, comments, etc…I’m committed to getting better at the operational side of running a podcast every single day.
If you’d like to subscribe you can find a link to the Supercast here.
What I’m Working on This Week
As we’ve mentioned, Saagar and I have settled on a twice-monthly schedule for our Ask-Me-Anything segments. That said, I’m going to release a special edition of the Ask Me Anything this upcoming Friday. I plan on going back into the Q&A back catalog and revisit some of the best questions and comments we’ve received over the past year.
I’ll also send out the next edition of the paid version of this Substack. Given what I see as DeSantis’s falling prospects and President Biden’s seeming ability to prevent a major Democratic challenger (no offense Marianne Williamson/maybe offense RFK jr, I’m interested in expanding my thoughts on why I think we’re going to look back on the post-2008 to 2020s political period as one that produced a lost generation of American politicians and what that means for subsequent generations.
Upcoming Episodes and Topics
Return guest Jacob Helberg on the tech cold war between the U.S. and China
Renu Mukherjee on the future of affirmative action/higher education and the potential for a realignment of Asian-American voteres.
Steven Simon on the rise, fall, and future of America’s ambitions in the Middle East.
Peter Frankopan on climate change, plus a revisiting of his work on Asia and the future of the global landscape.
