Subscribe to Our Supercast to Support the Show
We’ve officially wrapped our first month on Supercast. Thanks to everyone who has subscribed so far. If you believe in what we’re building on this show, please click the link below to support the show.
We have three price points: $5 a month, $50 a year, or $500 for a lifetime membership (aka ten years of subscription paid upfront).
The general rule with subscriptions is that 3-10% of your overall audience will pay for a membership. Last month, hundreds of thousands of unique listeners tuned in, so one can do the math. If only 3% of that number subscribed, even at the $5 rate, we’d be off to the races.
We’re officially going to look into advertising this upcoming month, so we’d like to get as much subscriber support as possible. The number/length/type of ads we take on will be determined by how much audience support we get.

I hope everyone’s had a great week. I’m writing this email on a flight to Austin, which conveniently leads me into the first item for this week’s newsletter:
A) Marshall’s moving to Austin. I’ve had a great time living in Brooklyn the past year, but to be incredibly cliche, turning 30 and my COVID lease being up soon has made me think a lot about where exactly I’d like to be for the foreseeable future. After spending my 20s living in apartments or group houses, I’m ready for something a bit more suburban, especially considering what that gets you compared to NYC.
My lease in Williamsburg runs through June, so I’ll still be around, but if any listeners/readers live in Austin, let me know, would love to meet up. I also know I owe lunch with some folks back in NYC, so please send a reminder my way.
We’ll definitely discuss this topic a bit during an upcoming discussion episode, but now that I have the privilege of working 100% remotely, I’d like to take advantage of the opportunity to try something different.
B) Next week’s discussion episode: Speaking of discussion episodes, let us know what topics are top of mind for us to discuss and debate. We want these to be organic and audience-driven. We’re still figuring out the format, so we would love suggestions there. Reply/comment to this Substack, or send us an email at realignmentpod@gmail.com with thoughts.
C) Should we change the show’s schedule? I’m thrilled with the transition to three episode a week. That said, I suspect that Tuesday/Thursday/Friday isn’t the ideal publication schedule. It would be a big change, but what do people think about us switching to Monday/Wednesday/Friday to leave more of a gap between episodes?
Once again, all of these additions/changes are made possible by our subscriber’s support.

The Realignment Bookshop
As a reminder, we’ve created a Realignment Bookshop affiliate store showcasing books by guests, what we’re actively reading this year, and deeper dives into the featured topic of an episode.
If you purchase a book using our link, the show gets a 10% commission, a local, independent bookseller gets support, and you get an awesome book!
We’re reorganizing our book lists over the next few weeks, so for now, check out our primary one:
Let us know what you think about this or any other week’s episodes. Please share The Realignment with anyone who’d enjoy the podcast.
First, I like a Thursday, Friday podcast. Not much content gets pushed over the weekend, so I save that second one for work around the house.
Second, I feel compelled to urge Saagar to be more restrained in his debates with Marshall. I mostly agree with Saagar’s points, but his tone and approach is much more aggressive than Marshall. Ideally, I would like to hear a point/counter point without one party cutting off the other or taking the opponents point to the illogical extreme.
I still love the show and will continue to be a loyal (and paying) listener.
Marshall Moving to Austin?! Heck yes! I live in Austin and I can say whole heartedly that the city will welcome you with open arms. I would love to give you some recommendations on where to eat, what to do, or anything else! I would be happy to be your tour guide. All the best luck with the move! Keep up the great work, I listen to the show every morning!
