Hey everyone, you probably noticed that we didn’t publish episodes today and yesterday. So today’s newsletter’s going to be sparser than usual.
My computer had some technical difficulties, so we’ll release those episodes next week. Saagar and my discussion episodes ended up getting cut off, so we’ll release the majority of what we recorded so far attached to the free part of this upcoming Wednesday’s subscriber Q&A preview.
If you want access to the full Q&A (and our previous subscriber-exclusive episodes), go to realignment.supercast.com or click the link below.
Next Friday will also mark the end of the current season. Saagar and I will be off the week of July 25th, and will be back August 1st.

The general rule with subscriptions is that 3-10% of your overall audience will pay for a membership. Last month, hundreds of thousands of unique listeners tuned in, so one can do the math. If only 3% of that number subscribed, even at the $5 rate, we’d be off to the races.

The Realignment Bookshop
As a reminder, we’ve created a Realignment Bookshop affiliate store showcasing books by guests, what we’re actively reading this year, and deeper dives into the featured topic of an episode.
If you purchase a book using our link, the show gets a 10% commission, a local, independent bookseller gets support, and you get an awesome book!
We’re reorganizing our book lists over the next few weeks, so for now, check out our primary one:

Marshall,
In your discussion about the quality of current elites, you made the statement that we have plenty of intelligent elites (citing Obama, Clinton and Buttigieg specifically), implying that intelligence and competence are the same. This is a classic fallacy by pundits and voters make. Intelligence does not equate to competence. The problem with too many of our "elites" is they are over-educated intelligent people lacking real-world competence. The fact is, we don't need a new elite. We need an elite.
