The general rule with subscriptions is that 3-10% of your overall audience will pay for a membership. Last month, hundreds of thousands of unique listeners tuned in, so one can do the math. If only 3% of that number subscribed, even at the $5 rate, we’d be off to the races.

Hey everyone, today’s episode was the last episode of our current season. We’re off next week, though there may or may not be a long-promised unlocked bonus episode for everyone. The show will be back the first week of August.
We did a lot this season:
A month straight of daily episodes on the war in Ukraine. We plan on revisiting many of the topics (sanctions, air/naval warfare, the future of war, etc…) later next season.
The show went from two to three episodes a week.
We made up for Saagar’s increasingly busy schedule by adding discussion episodes.
And as mentioned above, we launched our Supercast to support all of our growth and work.
The newsletter will be back next week with some pre-season thoughts/perspective. Reply to this Substack email, comment below, or email us at realignmentpod@gmail.com with you own perspective.

You've done a lot of great work this season, intentionally or not, working through the supposed "end of history" and post-Cold War moment. For the next season, a couple of ideas come to mind.
1) Explore the Civil War and Reconstruction Era. Get some historians on the pod who can dive into this and make relevant connections to today while at the same time avoiding armchair culture war analysis. I feel like you guys have a great understanding of the political realignments that occurred around the Gilded Age and into the Progressive Era (Frank DiStefano episodes), so it might be interesting to backtrack from there. Could also connect it to the "second Civil War" discourse that is often thrown around today.
2) Lean in to the intelligence debate between Marshall/Saagar and explore this across time. How did the intelligence community get to where they are? What have been their defining successes and failures? What is the intelligence "community," even, and how do their different components interplay? What are they doing to combat this new phase of great power politics? You've done some great episodes already with people like Peter Bergen and Amy Zegart, and could connect that to the general discussion.
