Welcome Back to The Realignment
Hey everyone, back from a temporary holiday hiatus.
Speaking of hiatuses, after next week’s issue and a pre-Christmas special, the newsletter will be off through the new year. See below for a couple of notes/requests:
Next week we’ll release our books of the year list. We’d love to also put together audience submissions as well. Reply to this email, comment below, or email us at realignmentpod@gmail.com.
Thanks for rolling with Saagar missing a decent number of episodes as we close out the year. As we mentioned during the intro to today’s episode, December and August are difficult on his end scheduling-wise. In prior years, we’ve taken the month off, but as any podcaster will tell you, taking time off from posting content wrecks the algorithm, making it harder for people to find the show. Once we hit the second week of January, expect Saagar to be back full-time.
In 2022 during the August and December busy/vacation times, Marshall will either host solo or bring on a guest co-host. Email us or comment below with any suggestions.Last but not least, we’d love serious feedback on the show. As always, we’re taking the holiday break to make things better.
Aka, the reviewer who recently said our intros are getting too long and rambly. We agree.
This Week’s Episodes
Episode 183: Matt Ridley: Lessons from Investigating the Origins of COVID-19
Episode 182: Alex Kantrowitz: Twitter’s New Leadership, Moving on from the Facebook Whistleblower, and Questions About the Internet’s Future
The Realignment Bookshop
As a reminder, we’ve created a Realignment Bookshop affiliate store showcasing books by guests, what we’re actively reading this year, and deeper dives into the featured topic of an episode.
If you purchase a book using our link, the show gets a 10% commission, a local, independent bookseller gets support, and you get an awesome book!
We’re reorganizing our book lists over the next few weeks, so for now, check out our primary one:

Marshall-for the December/August episodes, how would you feel single hosting a more debate style format? Bring on two guests who have diverging opinions, and moderate a conversation. Just an idea
Hey Guys! I love the show! I don't care about your intro. Its fine by me. But I do want to hear you guys explore more into Web3 and DAOs. Like ever since that episode you guys did on the Constitution DAO. I've been hooked on the idea of using something like a DAO to organize people towards a specific issue or piece of legislation. Like take congressional reform. Congress is never going to limit itself. That would be up to the people to organize a constitutional convention state by state to ratify a Stocks Amendment, so to speak. What if we used a DAO or some other kind of program centered around the blockchain to organize the propagation of the amendment and the collection of "signatures" to submit to the statehouse. You would need proof of residency and citizenship of course. But coupled with a face, a podcast and political movement like Yang's Forward Party, it might be a way to propose an amendment to each statehouse that engages people to re-discover that we can hold a convention to amend the constitution. And if we can do that, then maybe something like this could be used to organize the people of a state to propose bills before the Statehouse.
I know its a random thought in a forum for feedback for the coming year. But if you guys could find people to explore that idea further where web3 and crypto could become the gears of political reform. That would be sweet!
